Replace existing equipment
Ask what is replaced, what stays and whether the indoor and outdoor components are an appropriate match. Reusing ducts still requires assessment.

Replacing your furnace, AC or heat pump? Find out what the installation includes before treating one equipment price as the cost of the whole job.
Is the equipment failing, a room hard to cool, or your existing system expensive to run? Those are different starting points. Ask installers to explain why their proposed furnace, heat pump, AC or ductless system fits the problem.
An equipment-only price is not an installed project budget. Duct changes, controls, electrical work and setup can all change the offer. We don’t have a verified local price range for every system and home; written bids are the useful next step.

Confirm heating and cooling performance, any backup heat, controls and electrical changes. The installer should explain suitability for your home.
A single room and several zones are different projects. Ask which spaces are served, how piping is routed and what electrical work is included.
Your home’s cooling load depends on more than floor area. Ask for a Manual J load calculation and an explanation of how the selected equipment meets it. Insulation, windows, air leakage, local conditions and the duct system matter.
What size AC do I need? Check the sizing questionsAsk for a base installation and optional improvements to be identified separately. A comfort problem should have a clear proposed solution, not just a more expensive equipment tier.
Check incentives against your actual utility, property and installation date. Ashland’s municipal utility has different programs from Pacific Power. A potential rebate is not an approved discount. Start with our Southern Oregon incentive guides, then confirm current eligibility and funding with the program.
