System size and expected output
Panel count and DC capacity describe the equipment. Annual production is an estimate that also depends on the roof, sunlight and system assumptions.
Know the cost. Question the quote.
A low monthly payment can hide an expensive solar contract. Start with the installed price, the system size and the assumptions behind the savings.
Ask for the installed cash price before subtracting proposed incentives. Then request any financed price, term, rate and total payments separately. That gives you a clearer starting point than a sales presentation built around a single monthly number.

Ask whether the roof is suitable and whether the service, panel or wiring needs changes. Get necessary work included or priced separately.
Identify panels, inverter equipment, mounting, monitoring, permits and connection work. Different designs may cover different needs.
A battery is a separate buying decision. Finance charges and incentives also need their own lines so you can see what you are purchasing.
Have the installer show your electricity-use history, utility rates, export treatment and any assumed future price increases. Ask what your bill could still include after installation. Energy production and dollar savings are different calculations.
The manual calculator uses your bill and editable assumptions. It does not confirm that panels fit your roof. The separate roof-lookup tool can check available address data. Coverage and property matching still need verification.
Check incentives against your actual utility, property and installation date. Ashland’s municipal utility has different programs from Pacific Power. A potential rebate is not an approved discount. Start with our Southern Oregon incentive guides, then confirm current eligibility and funding with the program.
