Financing without the pressure
Roof financing: don’t let the payment hide the price.
A leaking or worn-out roof can put you under pressure to decide quickly. Financing may help you move forward. You still deserve a clear roofing bid and enough information to understand what you will repay.
Get the roof price before the payment pitch.
Ask for the cash price for the exact roof being proposed. Then request the financed price for that same work. Compare tear-off, decking allowances, flashing, ventilation, materials, disposal and warranty. A monthly payment cannot tell you whether those items are included.
See what to check in a roof replacement quote. If the contractor recommends immediate work, ask them to explain the condition and the options for addressing it.
A smaller payment can mean paying more overall.
Ask the lender for the complete repayment total. Then compare it with your budget and the written roofing scope.
What happens if damaged decking costs extra?
Ask the roofer to write down the included decking allowance, the unit price for additional replacement and how you approve changes. Ask the lender separately whether extra work requires a new application, a higher balance or payment outside the loan.
- When is the contractor paid, and what are you asked to sign before funds are released?
- Who confirms the work is complete?
- If the project is delayed or canceled, what happens to the deposit and financing?
- Are optional upgrades separated from the necessary work?
Compare the loan as carefully as the roof.
Request the APR, term, fees, total payments and early-payoff terms. A contractor’s financing option is one offer to evaluate; ask another lender for terms you can compare. The CFPB recommends checking installment-loan fees and shopping between lenders. CFPB: Personal installment loan fees.

You do not have to sort through the offer alone.
Read the fine print yourself, or bring the offer to us. As part of an agreed Full Advocacy scope, we can help you read through project-related financing terms, flag unclear costs and prepare questions for the contractor or lender.
Free bid coordination brings you written proposals. Optional Full Advocacy is $499 for comparison and negotiation support within its stated limits. We are not a lender and do not arrange credit, promise approval or replace legal, tax or financial advice. The lender must confirm the loan terms.
