No cooling. No heat. Now a repair bill you did not expect. Before you approve the work, get a clear answer: what failed, what will fix it and what will it cost?
Start with a free conversation. Contractor visits and work are charged separately.
Tell us what your AC, furnace or heat pump is doing.
Tell us whether the concern is AC not cooling, a furnace not heating, a heat-pump issue or a recurring comfort problem. Bring the equipment model, approximate age, service history and any written diagnosis. A symptom helps start the conversation; it does not establish which part needs replacing.
Ask for the diagnosis behind the HVAC repair quote.
Ask what was tested, which component failed and whether the recommendation addresses all reported symptoms. If a provider recommends replacing the system, ask for the reason a repair is unsuitable. You should be able to distinguish an immediate fault from optional improvements or longer-term replacement planning.
Check diagnostic fees, parts and labor.
Confirm the diagnostic charge, any after-hours rate and whether the fee is credited toward authorized work. Ask about parts, labor, travel, return visits and completion testing. Get the total for the proposed repair and the process for approving additional work. A free quote conversation is not a free technician visit.
Decide whether help comparing the repair is worthwhile.
Once the findings are clear, we can discuss whether coordinating written options or optional Full Advocacy would help. Our usual project focus is planned work of $7,000 or more. Small repairs may be more practical to arrange directly with a qualified service company. We check whether we can help and who is available before requesting bids.
Keep HVAC repair and replacement quotes separate.
If both are viable, request the cost, limitations and warranty of the repair alongside the complete replacement scope. Ask which comfort problems each option would address. Do not let a monthly payment or a system’s age alone make the choice for you. You choose, hire and pay the contractor directly.
Get urgent heating or cooling help when needed.
We do not dispatch emergency technicians or diagnose equipment. For a suspected gas leak, carbon monoxide alarm, fire or immediate danger, leave the affected area and contact the appropriate emergency service from a safe location. If indoor conditions are unsafe, seek prompt help rather than waiting for multiple offers.

Questions before you decide.
Can you send an AC technician today?
We do not promise same-day appointments or operate emergency dispatch. Confirm urgency and scheduling directly with a qualified service provider.
Can you help if I already have a repair quote?
Show us the quote and we’ll discuss whether we can help. We agree on any paid review before starting. A small repair may not need Full Advocacy.
Can you help with furnace and heat pump repair quotes too?
Yes. Share the technician’s findings and proposed work so we can discuss the next decision. We help with proposal questions, not equipment diagnosis, and confirm whether our support fits before starting paid work.
